A Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, James M. Hirschfeld, M.D. is dedicated to providing his patients with expert care and the latest technologies so they can enjoy the healthiest eyes and best vision possible. He is fellowship-trained in refractive surgery and served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University School of Medicine.
After completing his undergraduate education at Brown University, Dr. Hirschfeld earned his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine in 1996. He went on to complete his internship at Lenox Hill Hospital and his Ophthalmology residency at New York University Medical Center. His post-doctoral training culminated with a fellowship in Refractive and Anterior Segment Surgery at Siepser Laser Eyecare in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Hirschfeld is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Medical Society of New Jersey, the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology, and is on the executive committee of the Morris County Medical Society. He is on staff at Saint Clare’s Hospital’s Denville and Dover locations, as well as Lenox Hill Hospital and the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital.
Dr. Hirschfeld enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, and their British Shorthair cat Chloe, and her nemesis, their maltipoo, Max. He has served on the Mountain Lakes Board of Education since 2016. In his (limited) spare time, he enjoys skiing, running, cycling and hanging out with his buddies at the YMCA.
